The Road to Theatrical Release Takes on Many Dimensions
By Andy Valadez, Marketing Strategist of Marketing Dynamics

I rarely get to go to a major movie release/screening, watch TV, or follow an innovative series. Same with music videos and syndicated content on-line, even though we are making inroads in all of these sectors and I do love to just sit and enjoy creative digital content in all forms. The mind of a marketer never sleeps; we just close our eyes and think.
I love to work with originators and creators – musicians, actors, directors, writers, and producers across America and locally (the idea people). However, as a marketing strategist, I am in constant “research” mode and reviewing the changes in the industry like highway signs on the road of emerging horizons (traveling in a Lamborghini in my mind). Sometimes, I get way ahead of the map and come back to report what I see. The Bible says “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” The converse to that timeless scripture is “Where there is a vision, the people prosper.” So, what is your vision? Are you narrowly focused or opened wide?
I posted on Facebook that “filmmaker” is outdated. It is time for a new word. I don’t know what that word is yet. You and I get to decide. Are filmmakers now dinosaurs in the new world? Please, text me @stealthmarketer with your thoughts. I hear “filmmaker” and I cringe these days. Who still shoots on film? No one.
New horizons, things to think about for the new generation of content creators:
- You must constantly re-invent yourself,
- You may start out with a feature film, but it may be a better TV-series,
- You may start out with a TV-series and it may make for an event that dovetails with the use of social media and spins-off into other productions,
- You may start out with a music video and it may turn into a documentary feature,
- You may start out with a documentary and it may turn into a Broadway stage play,
- You may start out as a screenwriter and become an actor,
- You may start out as an actor and become a singer,
- You may start out publishing a magazine and change a nation through your readers,
- You may write an article and catalyze the world through thought-leadership,
If you tell stories with light, images, emotions, words and with sound and music, what do you see through your lens?
Case study: Reality TV producer Jay Jones is launching Hungry Fish Bootcamp across America via www.HungryFishMedia.org that will provide for events, educational training, digital production for the web and TV and theater, promoting movies and the new breed of content creators, and more. Jay has been involved with the “Jerry Springer Show”, “The Tyra Banks Show” and produced reality-bases series like “1,000 Ways to Die”, “Hoarders”, “Ice Road Trucker” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”.
